Martha's Vineyard MapThe Island of Martha's Vineyard is located approximately 3.5 miles off the southern coast of Massachusetts. The island is primarily a summer community and is accessible only by boat and air. The year round ferry, run by the Steamship Authority, departs from Woods Hole in Falmouth Massachusetts. There are other seasonal ferries that depart from Falmouth, New Bedford, Hyannis and Quonset Point, Rhode Island. During the summer season there are regularly scheduled flights from Boston, Providence, New York and Washington, D.C.

Martha's Vineyard is approximately 20.5 miles long and consists of 6 towns: Aquinnah (formerly known as Gay Head), Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury and West Tisbury. Each town has its own distinctive history, character and charming villages.
